War Drums are beating

We go back to the compound after seeing Galen. Dave talks to Kaygee to hook Jay’s kids up with a cell phone when they arrive to visit, three days from this point in the story. We brainstorm what leads we have to pursue. There’s talk about what really happened to Galen, how we saw Carlos’ memories through Galen’s mind, etc.. It’s thought that Galen was perhaps attempting to get into the Church of the Mortal Vessels and was made.

We go to Tabitha’s old shop to try to get information on the demon and find it deserted with a few ruined books scattered about. We spend some time searching and find a few books on demonology as well as Bureka’s journal written in German. We also find an authentic book on wards around the world.

Back at the compound we decide to try to research the Shadow Lord in order to determine whether or not he is even a demon and we find no new information. Aside of looking like Carlos,he is a complete mystery. A day and a half has passed at this point.

We go to speak with Robert next, and tell him about Carlos and ask for some background information. He pulls out a picture of Carlos and confirms that it is indeed what the Shadow Lord looks like. He was hired long ago, and his body was never recovered when his party was under siege several years ago. Asked about his specialty, Robert just says he killed a lot of undead and offers to give us his employment file.

We start brainstorming on Galen’s connection, if any, to the undead. Michael asks about the book he saw in the vision with Galen, and Robert says he has the book. We decide to take a closer look. Seth, Michael, and Ainhoa go to research Carlos while Pierre, Jay, and Keith go to research the book. We find nothing useful.

Pierre, Jay and Keith manage to find the book in the compound’s makeshift library, encased in a locked metal box. Ainhoa picks the lock and Jay gets a chance to inspect the book. The language is unknown at a glance, but presumably demonic.
Two days have passed at this point.

Pierre checks in with Melvin and asks him to help research Carlos on the internet. Four hours later, Melvin calls him back and doesn’t have any more information than what Ainhoa, Seth and Keith found. Michael takes some time to research the brain worm but finds no useful information or references of anything similar.

Little over two days later, Pierre suggests that we check out the swamp in Florida. Michael recalls there was a place of power down in the swamp near where Galen was found. We spend a day or more preparing for a trip to Florida. Jay goes to talk to Myers about bringing some Taskforce Valkyrie men along for the trip. Myers agrees to try to hook us up with some hunters local to Florida. Earl also decides to go so we have a group of thirteen people that we’re bringing from the compound, three of which are werewolves.

Before we leave, Seth goes to talk to his parents. His dad wants to know the truth about what’s going on. Seth admits to being a CIA operative for a while before joining LSCS/Network Zero. His father gives him a heartfelt speech apologizing for his harsh treatment in the past, but admits that he’d had an encounter with supernatural in Vietnam. He said, “I hear the wardrums, and they are beating.” He said he knew that Seth’s job was to protect a godslayer and would have to give his life to do so one day, but his father would say no more about it.

Seth pushes a little further and his father says, So you want to tell why I had to kill 4 people today? I haven’t done something like that in a very long time.

I know I’ve been really hard on you through these years. I am sorry I was always a real jerk to you growing up. I had to do stuff like that you know. I know you thought I was a monster growing up.

Seemed like I was more concerned about you time at the range and your scores then more about how you were actually feeling and such.

You have to know that I had something happen to me in Vietnam that to this day I hoped would not be true…. I hear the war drums. Someday my boy will be chosen as a protector of a god slayer and that’s before it gets really stuff. No father should have to know that it’s your son’s job to die helping to save the world. But for now you have to know I cannot tell you more about this for now.

Calm down, dear, remember you condition.

Stands and begins to pace…

I kept these things from you because I was scared. I was scared for you even before you were born. I didn’t want to believe the promise. It was just too terrible, but in the back of my mind, it was always there, so I tried to get you ready. That was my duty. The dream taught me what I had to do. Preparing you was my calling. That’s why I’ve done what I’ve done. I got so made because I knew I chased you away, and when that happened I swore that I would forget about the damn dream and never talk about it again. You were grown and I’d done my best, so my job was finished.

I’m not ready to tell you everything.

Seth’s father sits and looks deflated…

I’ve had this dream for decades. In to, you have to die saving the world from a terrible thing. But we have time… because what I’ve seen hasn’t happened yet. What you’ve seen so far is nothing. There is still la few more signs left.

He stood up… “Seth son…” hugged Seth for the first time in a long time…
After a brief moment he let go. “Give me time to think, and then we’ll talk. I didn’t know if this time would ever really come. I’ll tell you everything.”

As we finish getting ready to go to Florida, Jay’s kids show up. They hang out at the compound as we head to Florida.

Flying to Florida in a helicopter, early morning, listening to the Doors over the helicopter speakers. Earl speaks up and starts elaborating on some research that he got Melvin to do on the artifact.

There was the fact that it’s very old, been passed around through time, ended up in South America where it ended up in Lord Mashadow’s hands. Earl had some of Bureka’s journal translated to get more information on the artifact. It talked about how it has some abilities and powers it bestows on the one who wields it, but only certain people can tap into them.

The people that can use it only come about once every long while and none have come around in a long time.

The powers can allegedly be used to change the shape of space and time itself.

As we fly into the swamp, we see lots of lights from the distance, as well as lots of tents along the outskirts of the swamp. A few helicopters are parked there as well and as we land we find that Taskforce Valkyrie is already here and there is a large number of personnel stationed here. Of those that are with us, none knew this group was going to be here.
We go to one of the larger tents, looking for someone in charge to talk to. We’re greeted immediately by a lieutenant with the National Guard comes running up. He escorts us into the tent, and we see rows of monitors displaying views of the swamp, as well as Myers and people from the compound in Philly geared up ready to go. One of the monitors displays a fog over a section of the swamp that the cameras and things cannot get into.

As we get ready to go, we find we have thirty TFV men at our disposal. Myers addresses them, saying they are about to go into one of the most dangerous places in the US at the moment. Earl elaborates, saying if we see something about 10 feet tall and scary looking, it’s a windigo, and friendly, and Earl wants to talk to it. The men ask Myers some questions and Myers explains sensors, robots, and tanks are going to be ineffective in the swamp. There are some predator drones in the area but their visibility will be limited.

We enter the swamp…. It smells gnarly, full of deep mud, roots, and other difficult terrain to work through. TFV is fanned out, going under silence, using hand signals, etc.. Jay and Ainhoa are riding Ginger and Grimm and the others are stumbling through but managing alright. We make it a ways in when we hear over the radio, "Delta, Bravo… We uh, have come across some huts.

Should we investigate?"


Earl takes the radio and chimes in, “Delta this is November.”

“Earl, get the hell off our radio.”

“You’re going to send those guys into the huts? I bet there’s green lights in those huts.”

“Uh, Delta this is Bravo, there is green lights in the huts.”

Earl goes off, and Myers and he start arguing and then the radio goes dead after a minute.

“Delta, this is Bravo. What do you want us to do?”

“Mark it on the map and we’ll investigate later.”

“Your funeral,” Earl yells back.

Ainhoa asks Earl what the green lights are and he says “humbled folk, a sort of swamp people. Not really sure if they’re human anymore.”

We continue on and Michael falls into the swamp. Franks goes in after him and sometime later comes up with Michael sputtering. He claims to have felt something grab his leg and pull him under. It felt like vines.

Several hours later, we’re getting tired, slowing down. Earl signals everyone to stop and we come to a hault. He radios in that we’re there. Earl and Grimm approach a mound that rises up in the swamp. Earl sits and looks like he’s meditating and Grimm imitates his movements. After a very short time, the noises in the swamp start to settle and everything goes quiet to an unnatural level.

The temperature drops noticeably to where it is just above freezing. A glow appears on top of the mound and a very tall figure, about ten feet high, appears. It seems to have antlers but the light obscures the rest of its features.

Around the figure, these small chimp like features approach and circle around the mound. After a few minutes the tall figure starts moving away and Earl and Grimm jump up and sprint back to the group. Grimm transforms and swoops up Ainhoa. Earl yells, “It’s a trap!”
TFV starts radioing in for an evac but the radio is dead on the other end. Myers and the group is not responding. Earl says to take cover, to hunker down and make a safe zone. He says someone was here before us and summoned something that was beyond the Wendigo’s power.

The Wendigo was afraid for his people, and Earl told them to leave.

Darkness begins to descend as we hear voices chanting, “Arch angel, dark angel, lend me your light. Arch angel, dark angel [something…]” but we cannot sense where the voices are coming from. Jay senses demons coming from the direction of Bravo and radios in to them but only hears screaming coming back over the radio as well as war horns. We can all hear the commotion and Grimm tenses up and says, “They are not of this world,” which Ainhoa relays.

Combat ensues. The supernaturals are shooting some sort of spine¬like projectiles and appearing seemingly out of nowhere in the swamp. After we kill them all, with minimal trouble, Franks says he wants to move to the extraction point which is several hundred yards away, through the other fighting groups. We begin to approach their groups.

Me Melvin, New Member of the Clan! I make you Gold!

- We leave the apartment building, Will and remain as stewards of the portal

- Apparently Grimm had a super dose of the super juice, what that means is unclear for now
- Dawn, a new recruit, interrupts DB’s lunch to ask him questions about Michael
- Michael’s stalker group continues to grow
- DB is told by Dawn that Bob, the teacher, told her about Michael and the “amazing” things he’s done
- DB gets Jay and they track down Errol
- Errol says Bob shouldn’t be telling the recruits details about us, just the monsters we’ve fought
- DB wants to kick Bob in the nuts
- DB and Jay confront Bob, he covers his crotch and denies telling his students any of our personal information
- Robert tracks the team down for a “quick” job
- A landlord has requested aid in removing a troll, literal troll, from one of his properties
- DB, Morgan, Ainhoa, Jay, and Keith are sent to the landlord’s address in Chester
- Group arms up for the kill mission
- Jay gets the property address after meeting and talking to the landlord
- DB forgets about a grenade trap he’d set in Keith’s car
- It goes off in the crowd of gangers that had started to gather around the vehicles
- Driving away quickly to get away from the gangers they just bombed, the stop two blocks down the street at the row home in question
- They see lots of trash outside the row home, mostly pizza boxes and energy drinks
- The group decide to go in the rear entrance and clear the house going up
- Ainhoa picks the lock on the basement door
- The basement is seemingly full of trash bags full of shit, it reeks horribly
- The other basement is in the same condition
- Team decides the front door is a better option
- Ainhoa hears a TV with the volume cranked in the one house
- Ainhoa notices that a security camera on the front porch has been watching them
- DB shoots the camera
- DB goes in first to the house on the right
- Nothing of interest on the first floor
- Jay and Ainhoa cover the front door
- DB and Keith clear the second floor, but find nothing
- On the third floor DB and Keith see an open single room with a hole in the firewall that would have separated the two homes
- Keith and DB go through the hole into the other home while Ainhoa and Jay go in the front door of the left row home
- Ainhoa and Jay see a lot of computer equipment, Keith and DB see a server rack in the third floor
- Ainhoa and Jay hear movement on the second, relay this information to DB and Keith
- The two teams meet on the second floor
- Jay tries talking to the troll, Melvin
- Ainhoa, acting more motherly than even around her own daughter, suggests they talk to Melvin instead of killing him
- Melvin says all the other trolls left to go serve The Elders, he’s the only one left
- Keith and DB go downstairs and Ainhoa cloaks so that Melvin will feel safe enough to let Jay in with a beta copy of the next WoW update
- Door unlocks to reveal an eight foot tall green troll
- Jay, lacking any WoW update, starts to lose Melvin’s focus
- Thinking quickly Ainhoa slips into the room and unplugs Melvin’s computer
- Melvin freaks, but gets it plugged back in
- Jay takes advantage of a distracted Melvin and knocks him out
- The group binds Melvin and take him downstairs while grabbing stacks of paper
- DB opens the front door, and is greeted by 15 gangers with guns
- The leader tries talking to DB, threatens DB with a grenade
- DB slams the door shut and runs for the back of the house, Keith follows
- Gang rushes into the home, ignorant of the eight foot troll unconscious next to the door
- Keith and DB dive out the rear window
- Ainhoa and Jay run downstairs claiming to be renters held hostage by Keith and DB, the gangers buy it and let them pass
- Everyone starts to running for the cars
- DB hits three gangers on the porch with a grenade
- Ainhoa, again being motherly, runs to get Melvin
- Keith gives her a hand while DB covers them both
- They get the troll into the SUV with minimal damage taken
- They don’t stop until reaching the prison
- Seth gets a firm date on visiting his parents
- He calls them to let them know, but someone else answers the phone
“Who’s this?”
“Well hello, Mr. McKale,” That’s some really good timing there. Your parents have a nice little home here in the country. You really should visit more.”

“I’m no one important.” “I am but a mere acolyte of the shadows, but I bear a message from the High Priest of the Great Demon Elders himself. We have your parents. He is willing to offer a trade: Your family for Michaels.”

Suddenly there was a shout… then suddenly an impact thud.. followed by a crash… and a women cried in fear. You knew it was your Mother. “If you don’t do exactly as we say, we’ll feed them to Mother. She likes soft squishy things to play with.”

“You will do exactly as I say, Mr McKale, for we are the spear of the Elders righteous fury. We – Hey, watch the old guy!” You heard glass shatter, there was some crashing, then something that could only be a gunshot, and the phone went dead.

After a few minutes.. Phone rang again…”Son? Yeah some Assholes kicked the door in, started tying us up. Talking all kinds of craziness. Fucking amateurs.”

.. “Cultitst? These punks? Well, I got three of them. The last one’s crawling down the driveway, but he isn’t going very fast with all those holes in him, so I’ll mop him up in a second. What the hell is going on?”
Franks asked for Cult survivors…

“Well they best hurry up then. I’ll go toss him a towel and tell him to put some direct pressure on it and quit his crying. Now, you listen to me boy. They were talking about you and your friend Michael, that this has something to do with him. What kind of bullshit are you mixed up in? Is this some sort of mafia EMT thing?”

“Damn forgot, they said something about someone else’s children. They said they are going to be sending ‘violence and evil’ or something like that after them.”

Yeah then I went for my kitchen gun. I shot the son of a bitch that said it in the face, so I was a touch distracted. You’ve got to tell the authorities about those kids. Call 911.


Force and Violence are being sent after Jay’s kids
- Seth gets in the helicopter to get his parents
- Michael is sleeping but hears a whispered, “We need to talk.”
- It’s 3am
- “We need to talk. Meet me at the side gate.”
- Michael gets dressed, recognizes the voice belongs to Sarah
- “Come alone.”
- He makes his way to the side gate
- “I’m trying to help you.”
- Robert runs into Michael and asks why he hears Sarah in his head
- Robert leads Michael to a lower cell that has a hidden entrance to a secret passage
- Robert is worried that Sarah knows about the ward placed on the prison to protect it and them
- They emerge from the passage outside the wall
- Sarah asks if Michael has been able to read other’s memories
- The wizard has been behind everything. Her death. Lord Mashadow. Everything leading to this point.
- Spot lights switch on, alarms blare, Sarah calls Michael a fool and flees
- “Galen”
- Michael doesn’t tell Robert about the name he just heard from Sarah
- Jay calls Robert and says he’s bringing the troll back to the prison to do some IT work
- Robert washes his hands of the issue
- Thanks to Ainhoa declaring the eight foot troll shaped blanket as classified, no one stops them sneaking Melvin into LSCS network room
- Jay fast talks the newly awake Melvin into trying to work for them
- Melvin initially tries to flee but the team is able to stop him and talk him into staying and working for LSCS
- Keith and DB go back to the row home to get Melvin’s computers, but the house has been picked clean
- They are attacked by a vampire as they leave
- They kill it, DB takes off its head, but Keith’s leg is in bad shape
- Michael brain dumps to the team about his night
- Ainhoa recalls Galen as a former member of the LSCS team
- Jay meets with his kids, asks Ginger to protect them at the wolf village but she declines
- Jay houses his kids in the prison instead
- Melvin researches Galen’s current where about
- Galen is a patient at a mental hospital run by two former hunters
- Galen is unable to speak
- Everyone but the injured Keith and DB go to the hospital down in some state
- Doctors won’t let us into hospital armed as we are, they agree to bring Galen out to us
- Galen is very old and frail looking, can’t or won’t speak

Michael bends down and reads Galen’s mind… here is what happened…

The world was vast.. now world just a void… space of just nothing.. no beginning no end.. no light to dark no color..

Galen… “Who are you?” Think Latino accent…

“What are you doing here?”

Then first voice left… hideous voice returned… “THIS IS MY SHELL FIND YOU OWN.”

Scene of a team looking like they were welcoming a new team member. Strangely familiar office… Robert in the background smiling… It was a 3 dimensional slice of time… There was one hunter that everyone was greeting… looked nothing like the shadowed man…

Feeder was the black worm..

All memories are gone… feeder destroyed all good memories… then regular memories… he’s to strong I cannot fight him… he’s too strong…

I don’t remember any of my life I know what things ar ebut not what they mean… I know what food is but I don’t know how they taste.. you know what I mean…

He let me keep the bad memories to remember my failures… I remember the mistakes leading up to the end of my life…

Memory 1,

I saw the welcoming of a new hunter… the scene was exciting… My friend Robert sent him to us after he was assigned to another group. He wasn’t quite a good fit with them after he had some weird things happen to him while in Alaska. I don’t know Robert anymore, but I know he was my friend… I Hate him for introducing me to this Monster… the new hunter said hello Galen and Carlos shook his hand… Hello I’m Carlos… then it changed to a zombie attack… Carlos was about to get his throat torn out when the zombie froze long enough for Carlos to adjust and shoot the zombie in the head… form the side Galen could
be seen with out stretched hand mumbling something towards the Zombie… Carlos should have know but failed to notice the first sign…

Memory 2,

More scenes flashed by then several months later the Galen could be seen drinking beers and smoking a cigarette talking with Carlos… He trying to talk with Carlos about the Elders power… they should study it and use there powers for good. Help fight evil… Carlos argues saying anything that comes from the Elders would be tainted and would bring consequences…

Memory 3,

Next scene is one where the Galen is mumbling in a trance over a massive leather bound book, with ancient writing in inked in blood. Carlos argues with Galen telling him he should be dabbling with things like this… Carlos realizes that he been responsible for the Zombie out breaks… He decides to take him to see Robert… While in Okefenokee Swamp a scene unfolded were an encounter with a bunch of undead … The whole group was killed and the whole group and the NZ/LSCS finds Carlos (but memory was of Galen’s body) wondering in the woods with his mind gone… the rest of the team was lost. Assumed killed.

I hear whispers

Franks informs the team that the shadow is the leader of the Glorified Church of the Mortal Vessels. They call themselves to MoV. The leader appears on TFV’s radar 2 years ago, but the church has been on their radar for 10 years. The church works via cells. <garbed> “all killed or zombified” (I think regarding the people at the hotel in Mexico) <end> When asked why these people were after Michael, Franks explained that “as a back-up” to the assault on Wizard’s Island, TFV sent a nuke through the portal and the nuke went off.
“Intelligence says we woke something up and they think Michael did it.” Because of this, TFV is putting a protective detail on Michael and “putting [their] best men on it.” Franks is part of the detail and is in charge of it. Other members are Archer, Hurtzog (female) and Torrez. Torrez is all excited (definitely a groupy) but he found the team’s missing gear, so it’s not all bad. During the flight home, the sketch artist works from Michael’s descriptions.
Sam recognizes one sketch as his wife, but doesn’t tell anyone. Sam’s wife is the one who had the shard and did the talking. The other vampire is “Mother,” the vampire Dino was running from (TFV recognizes her). Seth recommends Michael get a tracking unit implanted.
Grimm is still alive and his/Ainhoa’s child is being watched by the pack. It’s currently just over a year since the nuke went off (thanks TFV!). Major east coast cities have populations about 1⁄4 of what they had before everything happened. Manhattan only lost about half of its population, though. West of the Mississippi is pretty much unaffected by all of this. Philly airport is under martial law and police control. Philly has become a center for hunters. TFV and NZ have moved into eastern state penn. We have a range and armory here and need to think about handling larger masses of monsters.
<gm> Steve notes we need to spend XP on taking a dot of firearms and on acquiring assault rifles specialization to account for the training we’ve been undergoing in the wake of this brave new world.
Ainhoa overhears an argument between Earl and Wolf about killing Grimm. Longer-term team members except Ainhoa (with Grimm) go to a meeting where Myers (TFV) argues with Earl about not trusting Earl’s folks. This is due to there being a mole who is tracking Michael’s movements. A bunch of information on Mother and The MoV is given to the team. TFV has one agent into The MoV, but he’s low on the totem pole and hasn’t learned anything. The last agent they got in was killed. There’s a photo of a message that was sent over a year ago (but just now received by TFV) of the dead agent with a message “Please welcome the release of the elders of old who will kill Michael Sorenson.” The dead agent was in Atlanta.
Seth sifts through the data and Ainhoa joins the team. Investigating the papers, Seth notices an e-mail noting they may need to bring in Force and Violence. Earl thinks these may be Krotos and Bea, the former a 10’ tall purple dude and the latter an 8’ tall woman. “If you see them, run the other way.” They’re monsters that are known to hunt other monsters. It’s unknown why they do so. Reports on them go back a couple of thousand years.
TFV wants werewolf nation to kill Grimm and sends a unit in to do so. Keith tries to convince them not to with Ainhoa and her daughter’s help. TFV backs down, but Franks draws his gun and aims it at Grimm. Time slows down and Gabriel appears (for the second time, poor Franks).
Gabriel whispers in everyone’s ears (including Grimm), “You are the Chosen One’s protector” and leaves. Franks lowers his gun and Grimm is human again (though now even larger, even in human form).
Sam receives a call that “they’re in the basement of the building and surrounded” from Will Taggart. Sam has the call traced back to the Kevech building. Not wishing to go back there, Sam reports it to TFV (claiming he doesn’t know who the call was from). TFV assigns it to NZ, who gives it to us. The group is issued anti-lunacy potions and sets out with Grimm and the TFV protection detail.
Sam refuses to come inside, but looks for a way to blow a hole into the basement. Entering the building, the team hears cries for help from the basement. Taggart is found pulling himself along the floor near the laundry room. Seth and Ainhoa stabilize him and they use a healing potion.
Taggart rambles on about torment, shovels and nightmares. A big black dog with a shovel-looking head is involved, as well as 2 big crows picking at him. The ravens mumble that he’s food for demons and how they were sent here to break down the barrier.
Seth asks if the building is sound and hears the hum of the generator. Taggart answers that it is. 2 ravens come out of the darkness. The ravens and dog thing are killed. Ainhoa takes photos of the dog thing. Pierre looks around and hears noises from the janitor’s closet. He shoots the lock off. Star comes out of the closet and starts complaining about the same things Taggart did.
Taggart and Star haven’t aged any since Seth last saw them. They’re now the guardians of the building. Seth asks Earl to send support.
The group goes to the first floor and finds 5 corpses. Three died peacefully (one with a syringe) and two not-so-peacefully. A 13 year old died from a gunshot wound between the shoulders and another guy has 2 syringes in his neck. Pierre checks out the crime scene and tracks blood to one of the rooms. Ainhoa goes to pick the lock and hears breathing in the room. A gunshot comes from the other side, hitting the door. It’s a lady with the shakes and a shotgun. She complains about dreams, as Star did. Will calms her down and they send her out to Sam.
On the second floor, they pass by the cold room and see “I hear whispers” written on the wall in blood. The control room is decorated as it was years ago and there is no dust. Pictures of Sam and his wife are in the room. Michael recognizes her as the one vampire and points it out. Will notes that he was last in here 2 years ago – it was dusty and there were no pictures of Sam.

Dave Took notes… on 10/24/2014

- Ainhoa hears the shadow character say some stuff that Steve is going to enter here
- Seth then sees the shadow character climbing the side of the building and escape away
- Sam and DB make their way to the pile of zombies
- Keith and Jay arrive from the ruin in a Jeep
- They follow Sam and DB to the pile
- During the ensuing fight DB breaks away to check the cab of each delivery truck
- Seth notices that the people being bit are rising up as zombies themselves, sooner than they should be, and that the zombies delivered to the resort are moving quicker than they should be for old old/rotten they are
- Michael passes out from his injuries fighting the shadow character
- DB notices a pendant around the next of the first truck driver
- Sam flees the battle to help DB check the trucks
- DB tries torturing the one living truck driver, but the driver’s pendant begins to glow
- When DB snatches it from his neck and watches the driver die
- Jay flees the battle to get a vehicle

- DB very nearly does the dumbest thing possible, putting on a pendant that seemingly just killed the truck driver, but thinks better of it because Steve forces him to use more than two brain cells

- Morgan runs after Ainhoa, leaving Seth the last man standing

- After driving away from everyone else on the team, without any care of concern for others, DB pulls over at a bar and shows Jay the pendant
- Jay is able to remember that it is an idol of a powerful demon and senses there is a weak ward on the pendant, but will need access to his books, notes, and Network Zero assets to figure out more
- DB buys heroin for reasons even he can’t fathom
- Aihnoa, Morgan, and Seth beach the jet skis near what looks like a town
- Ainhoa cloaks and finds DB and Jay at a bar in the town
- United again, Keith, DB, Jay, Aihnoa, Morgan, Sam, and Seth find a hotel to crash in for the night before going back to the resort for Michael’s corpse
- Jay calls Robert after we find a place
- Jay confuses Robert greatly during the brain dump and is forced to give the phone to Ainhoa
- Ainhoa clears things up about the shadow man that was after Michael
- In the morning we go back to the resort, which had caught fire, so now were are after Michael’s charred corpse
- Ainhoa cloaks to go investigate, but recognizes Myers and the idiot Franks from our previous dealings with the US Government
- Myers asks about Michael after Ainhoa makes her presence known
- “They” had a situation and need Michael
- Ainhoa brain dumps about the shadow man and the zombies
- After searching no one finds Michael’s charred corpse, so now we need to find Ainhoa 2.0
- Jay uses the Task Force Valkyrie (TFV) connections to research the pendant (Steve will put in the pertinent information here)
- We all get in the spiffy government SUV’s (Jay is unimpressed since he knows his is nicer and shinny-er) and head to Mexico City
- In Mexico City Myers goes into a government facility to “talk”
- After waiting in the SUV’s for hour(s) Myers eventually gets back and drive off again to a prison holding Ainhoa 2.0 (Michael) but we won’t get there until late at night
- It’s been 14 hours since the everyone abandoned Michael
- Michael wakes in what feels like the back of a truck with a bag over his head
- He smells burning tires and figures he’s in or near Mexico City
- Steve will hopefully insert the conversation between a Mexican that was asking Michael what organization he’s a part of and why he put so many dead bodies around the resort
- Conversation is a far gentler word that what actually happened
- Unfortunately for the interrogator, Michael really doesn’t have any idea of what happened at the resort since he passed out at the beginning
- They eventually stop trying to get blood from a stone and put him in Section 6
- He is placed in a cell with other prisoners, most want to kill him
- Esteban the oldest and leader of the specific cell that Michael is in is nice to Michael
- They chat about stuff that I hope Steve can put in here because it was a long conversation
- Several hours later it begins to rain at the prison
- The lights go out, Esteban thinks the power failed, but then the sirens start blaring
- Esteban translates the spanish for Michael and says someone is trying to climb over the fence
- Lots of gun fire can be heard; it’s getting closer
- The sirens cut off
- A few moments later a guard outside Section 6 can be heard choking
- The temp in the section drops at least 40 degrees, everyone can see their breath hanging in the air
- The section door is knocked down from outside
- Michael can hear high heals walking along the section floor
- Two female figures become the subject of numerous cat calls
- Michael can recognize one of the women but can’t place her face
- The second vampire stops, turns to one of the men cat calling to her, and rips his body through the gap in the cell bars faster than anyone could blink
- Everyone backs up the far side of their cells and shuts up
- The vampires then approach Michael’s cell
- One of the vampires asks Michael if she can enter to talk
- Before he can express an answer she turns into mist, vapors into the cell, and condenses back into her physical form
- She begins talking to Michael
- Says she wants to hire him and Network Zero to do a job
- Tells him about the shadow person that attack him earlier
- Says he is a necromancer, has been given power by those he worships over the dead
- Doesn’t want to find out if that means power over her too
- She tells Michael about a gift she has for him, to awaken power he’ll need to fight the wizard
- It is apparently a piece of the relic/magic thingy that was used on Wizard Island
- Claims to have placed protections on it so that it won’t hurt Michael and have fewer side effects
- Before Michael can protest or escape or anything really, she presses the shard onto his forehead
- Something about pain and feeling strength and maybe other magic Michael whatevers
- The vampire takes the shard off Michael’s forehead
- He’s seemingly frozen from the experience
- The vampires select some prisoners to feed on, one being Esteban
- Michael passes out to the sounds of the vampires feeding on his cell mates
- When he awakes Myers is in his cell
- Michael is collected and all of us are escorted to a waiting C-130
- We fly home to Philly
- Some brain dumping may or may not have happened

It’s been well over 2 years for some of you and just over a year for others when the illusion shatter and you got your welcome to the real world. Up until that point you considered yourselves a detective, Wallet lifter, profession car driver, carpenter turn demolition’s expert, EMT, and a profession college student who hadn’t really started his life until his parents were killed by the FBI or something.

Everything changed the night/day… PCs shared their brief story of what shattered their introduction into the real world.

You all know there are basically two ways to deal with these type of problems when you are confronted with something so hideously impossible that they tend to curl up into the fetal position and die. On the other hand, all of you that have been destined to become hunters simple take care of business. Almost every one of you almost lost your life when you were introduce to the real world. The thing you were confronted with was killed (what every manor they shared) and you all didn’t. That makes you all the winner.

After the initial encounter you all sought others or confronted with new careers job offers in this new line of work. Apparently survivors like yourselves aren’t common, and as a result killing monsters is a real boost to your newly egos. You all have found yourselves protecting mankind from the unnatural forces that come crawling out from your darkest nightmares, and in return, you all get paid the bug bucks.

It wasn’t that long after that some of you joined up together as a small cell working for LSCS then a larger compact within for Network Zero you began hearing reports on attacks on various cities. The reports describe quick moving humans that paralyze their victims before they perform the dance of death on their souls. large dogs have been seen within their ranks. Reports coming from some state that they are the size of bears. They been seen tearing through the humans and leaving behind bloody balls of flesh.

Atlanta, was the first to see these attacks, then Columbia sc… Shortly after that DC was under siege followed by Jacksonville FL, and finally your city …. Philadelphia. It was obvious to all of you that these attacks were coordinated and meant for a purpose…. This all started which lead ultimately coming up against an seemingly unstoppable evil from the past. It took everything you all had to survive, but in the end, the Cursed One was defeated and you all literally saved the world.

Tax free income for next year, after all the government still needs their taxes paid, plus free medical for the rest of your lives.


The biggest chupacabra in the pack was only four feet tall, but what they lacked in mass, they made up for in fierceness. Being unable to get to their dinner was making them even grumpier then usual. The peasant girl had been tinkering with the engine of her broken-down Chevy Vega station wagon when the first goat-sucker had come sniffing onto the jungle road.

Her screams at seeing the little demon-lizard-insect thing hop down the dirt lane like a demented miniature kangaroo had driven it into a frenzy, and she had barely managed to dive into the car ahead of its snapping jaws. Her continued cries from behind the locked doors of the old rust bucket had attracted the most of the pack, and now there were a dozen of the creatures banging on the car.

The creatures were scratching and clawing at the car’s windows and roof. The girl just kept on screaming. She had a remarkably good set of lungs for this kind of thing, which is why you all had picked her. Her cries urged the monsters on, and they all began to shriek as well, echoing across the dark jungle canopy for miles. The four -footer jumping up and down on the hood of the Vega was pissed. It had to be the pack’s alpha male, and it couldn’t figure out why the glass wasn’t breaking.

You all watch it carefully through the night-vision goggles. When you all hear Ainhoa whisper from inside the Vega over your headset “Guys, I think he suspects something.”

So there I was…no shit.

Midnight on some backwards-ass medieval Mexican dirt road in the middle of the bush. Wolf-girl Anihoa, disguised as a Mexican peasant, was inside a busted up Chevy truck surrounded by an entire tribe of chupacabres (it was Mexico after all). The rest of us were in some ambush hide sites. And by ‘us’ I mean Michael, Seth, Sam and some chick with a sniper rifle named Morgan. The last was new to me and old to the others. From where? Whatever – they’ll probably say if it is important.

Anyway, the big one (the chup, about 4’ tall) had managed to pick up a rock. Now normally, chups don’t use tools, or so someone said. Between that and Anihoa’s anxiety to get out of the Chevy and chop something up, it looked like it was game-on. About time too, we’d been in these hide sites for days and in the heat wearing hunting gear? Whew! I’m not kidding, I could smell Sam’s stink from yards away. He’d helped himself to the local burritos. Disgusting.

It went down as you would expect. Seth shot a couple with his carbine. I shot a couple with the shotgun. Morgan sniped one with the rifle. Anihoa chopped some up with her machete thing, Michael shot one with his pistol, and Sam hacked one with his axe, or hammer or other crazy weapon. It was a slaughter. Good times.

But the chups were not the reason we were in Mexico. Apparently they were some kind of…cover? There was some ruins, or camp, or spaceship (the whole concept was still pretty vague to me) somewhere in the area and Management wanted us to silence the chups to get us in. But, we were getting paid per head, and who doesn’t need some beer money? So, Sam and I borrowed the slightly used Chevy and packed a big bag of chupacabra heads off to management whilst the rest went back to the luxury resort and showed off their pool bodies to the Spring Break college kids.

While driving to drop off the heads and while enjoying a cool Papst Blue Ribbon, I asked if Sam knew anything else about why we were here. He was as well informed as I.
Meanwhile, back at the luxury hotel…

Everyone else went and got all nice and clean smelly-like (while I was sitting next to Stinky Sam!).

In his room, Michael was about to change into his speedo, when some dude came to the door. Seemed like a creepy guy so Michael stepped back and wouldn’t let him in. Dude launched the door off the hinges and out the window! Mike dodges, barely.

The guy comes into the room and turns the entryway into a thick shadow. Continues smack talking and wonders how Michael ever beat MacShadow (not like the rest of us had nothing to do with it – that omission alone earns this fool a one way ticket to Hurtsville, Alabama!). Creepozilla tells Michael he’s coming with him like it or not. He then grabs Mikey in a Vader choke-hold, so Michael uses his “super-power” (i.e. goes nuts). That seems to do it, and Creepy-man drops Mike who promptly runs away. Creepy-Man talks about how disappointed he is and how the ancients were communicating about Michael and how that is so rare, blah, blah, blah. Que evil mocking laughter…

GM Notes: Creepy-man speak during combat… “For somebody who’s supposed to be so extraordinarily important, you seem rather unimpressive.” …. “It’s useless, (he chuckles at Michael) I can’t believe you’re the one. This is pathetic. I was at least expecting a fight. Can you truly be the one who defeated Lord Mashadow?” … You must be important though. It took some time for the message to read me. I was shocked to receive something from the other side. You have no idea how rare it is for the elders to take the time to communicate with this world. Oh, my lord is going to be happy when I deliver you. I don’t know how you managed to get on his bad books, but you’re bloody well fucked.” … :ast thing said before he opened his mouth “I tried to be polite, and now you have to make me do this the hard way. I wated to deliver you to my lord with your mind in one piece, but noo, you have to be difficult…” “Fine then. We’ll just devour your brain and give my lord a vegetable.” Paused his neck puffed up. “Snack time, Michael…” That’s when his mouth opened wide, titlted his head back, and some thing came up his throat, black claws pushing past his lips, tiny red eyes blinking over a circular mouth filled with fishhook teeth, crawling, struggling upward, heading right for Michael’s face. That’s when Michael punched it in the face and broke the choke hold.

Michael races down the stairs and bumps into Ainoha. Michael is still pretty berserk, but even he has sense to stand down in the face of a machete wielding wolf-girl who hasn’t killed anyone in the last 15 minutes.

Back at the pool party…

The rest of the Scooby gang is hanging out by the pool with the college kids, looking all casual-like with AK47s stuck in the waistbands of their swimsuits. Fortunately the College kids are far more interested in beer, weed and the opposite sex than a bunch of oldsters trying to look cool while packing heavy ordinance.

About this time two big delivery-trucks back-up to the fence, pushing up against it, knocking the chain-link fence over. The boozing college kids could care less as the party continues.
Moments later, out two still very filthy hero’s pull up pockets stuffed with money for booze and less a bunch of chupacabra heads.

The back of the trucks open and a pungent rot that makes Sam and I smell as debutants wafts from the back of the two trucks as pale and rotting corpses (moving corpses) fall out of the back.

Now, I may be a product of the Louisiana Public Education system, but even I can guess that these are NOT the good guys coming with pizza. And since most zombies can’t drive, that makes the drivers henchmen, and on the hit list. Shotgun blast to driver one. Sam is on it, and a magnum blast does driver number two.

Looks like the real party has just begun.

Lily’s pack (7 werewolves total, one super), Earl, Peter, Lesley, Sam, Jay, Michael, JIM, Seth, Franks, are helicopter lifted to a C-130 that has a Humvee and .50 cal turret and flies everyone to Ashland Airport in Oregon.

A platoon of Army National Guard greets the C-130 Their available hardware: two transport trucks with 12 soldiers spread between them , one Humvee has m249 turret, one Humvee with Grenade Launcher, two Humvees without turrets, one Stryker

It will be a two hour drive to crater lake, Wizard Island. 30 minutes outside of airport a transport vehicle breaks down, and cannot be fixed. Two soldiers are left with the broken transport vehicle to attempt repair or wait for recovery.

The rest of the soldiers in that transport board the other vehicles. Lily’s pack is in the working transport vehicle. Sam is manning the grenade launcher in one Humvee. Seth is manning the m249 turret, Jay is driving in one Humvee. Jim is manning the 50 cal in one Humvee

One hours into the drive

Surprise Round

The last vehicle flips over and tumbles several times. “Cloaked” flying Gargoyle(s) are attacking. No one is able to see the Gargoyles

Round 1

Sam is bit by one of the Gargoyles for three lethal. The strike gunner sees Gargoyle1 attacking Sam. Gargoyle2 attacks driver of first Humvee for 1 lethal. Sam drops inside the Humvee and draws his axe. The National Guard Lieutenant shoots at Gargoyle1 with the 50 cal – does 4 lethal. The National Guard Soldier in the first HUMV misses Gargoyle2. Jim attacks Gargoyle1 for 1 lethal. Jay rolls 4 successes but doesn’t sense any demons. Peter attacks Gargoyle2 on the first Humvee for 2 lethal. Seth sees Gargoyle1 attacking Humvee 3, and hits for 2 lethal.

Round 2

Gargoyle1 flies off the Humvee 3. Earl attacks Gargoyle2 for 1 lethal. Gargoyle2 attacks driver of Humvee 1 for 2 lethal. Sam gets back up and looks for Gargoyle1 but fails. NG Lt attacks Gargoyle1 7 lethal and kills it. NGS in first Humvee hits Gargoyle2 for 3 lethal. Jim attacks Gargoyle2 for 7 lethal and kills it.

Driver of Humvee1 keeps control. Earl and Peter take the front seats and drive the front Humvee. Ainhoa tries to see if CWV is lying, but doesn’t think he is

NG and team approach Crater Lake from the South. It’s about 3 hours until night. The team decides to continue on no despite the hour. The team loads up the two boats as much as possible, leaving 7 NGS behind for a second trip. Two boats approach Wizard Island. Bodies litter the beach of Wizard Island. 2 hours of sunlight left.

Mean while in inside, Ainhoa is dragged out, but can’t see very well

While outside, The island vibrates and a dark shadow spreads across the entire crater. A bubble fills the entire area above the crater blocking out the Sun, bubble seems to be white. It seems to be twilight now. The third boat arrives with the rest of the NGS and Franks

Lily’s pack tries to find Ainhoa; they smell a lot of things: Vampires, Whites, Super-Wolves, but not Ainhoa. Ginger is able to smell Ainhoa, but not able to follow where her scent is going/has been.

Jim is helped by everyone and gets 10 successes that the bodies have been fed upon by werewolves and vampires. The team space out ten yards apart and start walking toward the top of the volcano.
Franks sees an area of more bodies and footprints down the western side of the volcano. We make our way toward the high body count area. We hear noises when within 20 yards of a cave entrance.

Round 1

Lesley shoots @ White6 for 3 bullet damage. Seth shoots the head off of White7. Earl shoots White1. Jim fires a HE grenade at Whites, knocks down 1,3,4,6,8,10 doing 4 damage, kills 1 and 6.
Grimm sees a vampire climb out of one of the bodies. Jay draws out the Silver Hand Mirror. Grimm tries to grapple vampire1, but fails. Ginger bites vampire1. Sam advances down the hill. Franks attacks White8 for 4 damage.

NGS with the m249 attacks White4 for 3 damage. NGS attacks White3 for 5 damage, killing it, White5 for 3 damage, White5 for 4 damage, White2 for 3 damage, White2 for 4 damage, killing it, White4 for 1 damage, White5 for 3 damage.

Michael shotguns vampire1 for 0 damage. Peter snipers White5 for 4 damage killing it. Vampire1 gets attacked by 5 werewolves, wishes for death.

Round 2

Lesley attacks White4 killing it. Jay moves towards vampire1. Seth attacks White10 doing 5 damage killing it. Earl double moves. White9 advances. Grimm does 4 damage to vampire1 with bite, killing it. Vampire2 climbs out of corpse and attacks Lesley for 5 aggravated damage and is drained for 4 lethal, she drops. Sam charges White9 and does 7 damage killing it with battle axe. Ginger attacks vampire2 for 1 aggravated damage. Vampire3 pops out of another corpse and attacks Lily. Franks double moves toward the cave

Jay charges and attacks vampire2 buts whiffs. Vampire5, with metal helmet and severed head pops up and grapples Michael. Seth attacks vampire5 with long swords for 8 damage. 8 more Whites appear. Earl attacks vampire4 for 0 damage. Jim fires White Phosphorus grenade at group of Whites doing 4 fire damage on Whites 1-6. Grimm attacks Vampire5 for 4 lethal. Vampire2 attacks Ginger for 7 lethal plus for 4 drain, vampire2 is healing itself. Sam attacks vampire4 for 4 lethal, killing it. Ginger attacks vampire2. Franks attacks White8 for 4 damage.

NGS attack White8 for 1 damage, then 5 damage killing it. NGS attack White7 for 3 damage, then 7 damage. NGS attack vampire2 for 3 lethal, killing it.

Vampire6 pops up and does 3 lethal to a werewolf. Michael realizes he has no hope of breaking out of the grapple. Peter attacks vampire6 doing 3 damage. Pack kills vampire6.

Round 4

Jay attacks vampire5 with cane for 3 aggravated. Vampire6 Corpse Doors away from fight with Michael. Whites1-6 dies from the White Phosphorus fire damage.

Present: Everyone

As the group leaves back through the portal and tunnel and bathroom, we find nothing of Ainhoa. Grimm searches sniffing every inch of what we pass and every surface, but can find no scent or trace of Ainhoa.

Grimm calls Lily for help. Lily says that they’ll be there to help ASAP.

Steve spills his drink. Players spend their XP. Intermission.

Lily shows up with the pack since one of the pack members is missing. They smell whites and vampires all over. After an hour and a half they haven’t found anything of note. Some go through the portal to check the graveyard and find a pile of Ainhoa’s weapons there. They do smell her scent and follow it to the road where it stops. They also smell the scent of a vampire with hers. They can smell it going over to the northbound side.

Sam calls KG to see if he can check traffic cams in the area. He doesn’t find any cams in the area to check. Seth (12 successes) picks up blood spots and discovers there was a fight in the area. With KG’s information we are able to assess that there is a car with a dead body in it at the Thorndale train station (not Ainhoa!).

The voice from the dungeon is the voice from the video when the apocalypse began; the vampire who was riding the wolf in the TV video. He was wearing Confederate clothing in the video.

Seth calls Franks to see if the trains are running still. Septa is not currently running. Nor any cargo freights or anything running in this part of the country. We check if KG can check any cameras in the area or at the station to see if there is evidence of trains.

We find that the body in the car is the owner of the car and seems to just have been a snack.

Ainhoa’s Story
Ainhoa can hear that she is on a train. She slowly wakes up and can tell she is still hurt. She can smell rotten meat, urine, feces around her. As she looks around everything is dark except for a flash of light through doors of the boxcar she is in. She can feel that her hands are chained together behind her. Ainhoa activates her bracelet so she can see in the dark of the car.

Around her is an empty boxcar with another chained up woman. She is a little bit away near the corner; she’s not moving. After a few minutes the door on the side opens up, and the man from the video is there. He begins talking with a thick Southern accent. He asks her to deactivate her bracelet and she does.

He says that he can smell the dogs all over her. The same dogs that killed his Crow. Crow was related to him; Crow was his. Lord Mashadow sent vampires to take over the various cities. It’s all part of Lord Mashadow’s plans. He has been in Philly for many years and was sleeping, but only recently awoken.

The Others
The city has been quieter for the last few hours. The whites and vampires have been disappearing. There seems to be very few of them remaining after our fight. The group heads back to NZ.

Earl pulls us into the conference room. Grimm stays with us to try and help find Ainhoa.

The name on the tomb at Brandywine was Willy Smithon. NZ looks it up and find references to him rising from the grave and being a vampire.

THe group discusses Crow and what Grimm can tell us about what the vampire was saying to Ainhoa. We go to Crow’s old place and find a boarded up building/warehouse. We find nothing there except hints of werewolves being there a long time ago.

NZ is able to find people who seem to be related to Willy Smithon down south and up north.

We head back to NZ and Peter has some ideas. He starts asking Michael how many dreams he’s had (4) and if he’s noticed a trigger that starts them. Peter starts theorizing that if we knock Michael out, we might be able to trigger a dream. Peter and Grimm move behind Michael, but he notices them locking the door.

Initiative Ends.

Everything goes black for Michael and starts dreaming about puppies and pink bunnies. But old guy doesn’t show up.

Seth takes Michael to the medical bay and takes care of him. After 15 minutes, Michael wakes up to Grimm leaning over and staring at him. Seth uses narcotics to knock Michael out and medically induce a closer to death state.

Michael starts hearing the old man. He asks what he’s doing here again. The old man wants to show him something. Michael sees everyone looking at his body on the gurney. Grimm senses a presence and says ‘I think the old man’s here!’ Michael is pulled out of the building and Philadelphia. Lots of things stream by faster and faster west.

Suddenly they plunge into the ground and into a cavernous opening. There is a sudden feeling of vampires; that there a very strong powerful beings nearby. There is a pit of people screaming, whom are trying to climb out, but cannot make it.

‘He (Lord Mashadow) came here a few days ago, and he is doing something in the back. But he doesn’t know what. They are preparing for something that is coming.’ You hear a voice yell ‘Heinrick, you brought him back in again. I brought you in, but you are out again.’

Heinrich says ‘We must leave!’ As Michael is pulled back out of the dirt and ground he sees a sign that says ‘Welcome to Wizard Island.’

Seth wakes Michael up.

Michael tells everyone about Wizard Island. We look it up and find:

Wizard Island is a volcanic cinder cone which forms an island at the west end of Crater Lake in Crater Lake National Park, Oregon. The top of the island reaches 6,933 feet (2,113 m) above sea level, about 755 feet (230 m) above the average surface of the lake. The cone is capped by a volcanic crater about 500 feet (150 m) wide and 100 feet (30 m) deep. The crater was named the “Witches Cauldron” by Will G. Steel in 1885, who also gave Wizard Island its name at the same time.5 The land area of the island is 315.85 acres (127.82 ha).

Seth calls up Franks and tells him that Lord Mashadow is in Oregon, and they make the connection that a place of power is in Oregon. Franks gets helicopters ready and fueled.

DC has been taken over, and the White House has been overrun. There is a video of the President speaking and turning all power over to a demon there on camera. You then see Biden come in and shoot the President. Then there is gunfire and people running around. After that there is news that Biden is on Air Force One.

Ainhoa’s Story
Ainhoa starts looking for a way to pick her locks. During the time she is there she can see that the other trapped woman is a blood doll. She successfully frees herself from the shackles and goes to the door. The train is moving pretty fast. Through cracks in the door she seems that it’s dark out. She activates the bracelet and can see woods in the countryside they are passing through.

It’s a few hours until morning so Ainhoa goes back and waits for morning. Once daylight hits, she opens the door. As the door opens, she hears the woman say ‘Where are you going? Help me!’ Ainhoa ignores her for the moment and instead leaps up to the roof. There appears to be 20 cars in either direction of the boxcar she was in. She begins heading down the train towards the back by leaping from car to car.

On the other car she sees arms starting to reach up over the edge of the car. Ainhoa tries to run through/around him. She sees that he appears human and then a second is climbing up from the side. She jumps to the third boxcar.

Ainhoa keeps moving, sprinting along the tops of the boxcars towards the back of the train. She then tries to activates her Forgettable power but fails. She continues running but slips and misses the next car. Reflexively she grabs and holds the edge of the car with her legs dragging under the car. Ainhoa activates the Forgettable power again, this time successfully. After about 4 rounds she is able to disconnect the train cars. Looking up she sees something very fast leaping along the cars and smoking. It jumps from the back, disconnected cars to the front cars.

Ainhoa climbs up and sees the vampire on the front cars, and he sees her. She starts running again along the cars. He turns and starts running for her. The vampire grabs and tackles her on the roof, knocking her out.

Ainhoa wakes up in a different boxcar. She has been fed some vampire blood, healed slightly. The vampire seems particularly cranky, and nearby is a train engineer laying in a pool of blood. She turns off the Forgettable power, but finds that her bracelet for seeing in the dark is missing. There is a wooden crate filled with dirt in the boxcar with her.

DB is looking into any of the groups or personalities that have inhabited Wizard Island or anyone that has gone to the Island. Any history or lore of the island or people who have been/gone to the island.

Jay looks into it with everyone’s assistance and makes an EXCEPTIONAL ROLE.

Steve will give us good information next time regarding this so he can think of it.

Where Ainhoa gets abducted... again.

After having spent two days healing in the ICU or being healed by Angela, the team regroups…

Michael suggests researching the “Grigori (fallen angels)” and we assigned Kaygee with the task. “ST Note: See link for what Kaygee found” Looking to see if there are similarities in experiences/encounters with these beings/etc. Michael also wants to know if the bathroom was intentionally possessed or if they were attempting to summon the demon into something or someone else, so that we can gain some insight into what they’re doing and why they are doing it. It’s not clear who exactly was doing the summoning (whether it was a vampire or lesser demons). Jay assists to help with his demonology expertise but could not come up with anything.

Ainhoa and the others find Gringo’s Fruits and Veggies stand in the black market. She purchases 4 potions. Gives one to Michael, Sam, and DB and holds the last one. Afterward, Jay and Ainhoa attempt to research how to dispel the darkness in the one tunnel in the dungeon but are unsuccessful. We speculate that taking a torch or something with an actual flame may produce some results (but were wrong).

Seth and DB make their way to the local parish church that we’ve visited before. There are nuns and other faithful there, and the Cardinal is present but it seems everyone has forgone the usual formalities. Seth is recognized as being from Network Zero and is escorted by a nun to see the Cardinal who he asks for help in fighting demons, either in information or blessing his weapons. The Cardinal says he cannot spare any unusual or magical items, but he will bless any items we bring him. He performs the ritual right there and blesses Seth’s two long swords as well as DB’s sword.

In return for blessing the items, the Cardinal tells Seth that an offering to the church would be much appreciated. He turns down any kind of monetary donation, and explains that he and the nuns are hoping to leave the city and asks that we escort them in a couple of days on their journey. Seth agrees.

Meanwhile, Sam goes on a quick trip to gather supplies to create some explosives. He finds all the materials he requires and he makes 8 successes worth of explosives. Before he leaves the Home Depot, he grabs power tools and a generator upon Michael’s request. Michael and Ainhoa go collect some gas.

After arguing for some time, we all decide to go through the portal beneath the park bathroom. We all successfully dodge the acid and work our way toward the unusually dark hallway. Seth decides to attempt to walk into the darkness with a torch with a rope tied to him in case he needs to be pulled out. He makes it past the rune and steps into the darkness. The dark extinguishes the torch and he continues through, touching the walls as he goes. He ends up going down some stairs, and then comes out of the darkness about 30 yards in. When he relays that it is safe, we tie our end of the rope to a nearby set of bars and follow the length of the rope through to the lit side of the tunnel. Sam unties the rope before making the last trip through.

Once through the darkness, we attempt to step into the center of the four-way intersection. Ainhoa and Seth succumb to an overwhelming sensation of exhaustion and dread and collapse. Grimm and Jay, respectively, pull them out and wait until they regain consciousness. While Grimm is in the center of the intersection, he spies odd, vegetative tendrils reaching out of the nearest wall. Once everyone is on their feet again, Seth decides to try and burn the vines with his torch. As he waves the torch at the vines, they begin to retreat. DB comes up behind him and takes a shot at the vines, scoring several good hits which successfully severs all but one of the vines from the wall. Ainhoa runs by the retreating vines without interference (the remaining vine was still retreating from Seth’s flame), and Grimm comes behind (in wolf form) and bites the last vine loose from the wall.

On the other side of the vines, Ainhoa and Seth open the doors and come into a red-marble, pentagonal room with an empty stone coffin lying in the center of the space. On either side of the room lay a pool of blood and manacles hang from the walls. Seth performs a brief search but it produces nothing of value.

Back in the intersection, the team decides to go forward through the ensuing darkness. As they emerge from the darkness, the space opens up around them. To the left there is a chair within and surrounded by two pools of blood. To the right we notice a werewolf, gnawing at itself and twitching about in an unusual manner. It is recognizable as the werewolf from the news report at the start of the “apocalypse.” We also take notice of an ape-creature (Gagore), and one of the tendril demons in separate corners.

(ROUND 1 STARTS) As they take in what they see before them, the Gagore charges. As he charges, we hear, “STOP!!! y’ve come far. ya got past ma bloods and ma whites and som haw da demon. Ya have any idear what blazes that cost ma da summon…“ The Gagore swing at Ainhoa and sending her flying into Grimm, who falls into Michael. All of them end up on the floor, and Ainhoa feels like her left collar bone has been badly broken.

The voice continues, “And somehow past my demon, do you have any idear what the blazes that cost me to summon?” We do not see anyone immediately present that could be the speaker.

As Grimm stands back to his feet, Seth takes a couple shots at the tendril demon, hitting it twice, and DB pulls back and throws a grenade at the werewolf in the corner. Both the werewolf and the Gagore take significant damage from the blast which seems to get the werewolf’s attention. Jay steps forward and concentrates on the Gagore, attempting to take command of its actions using his demonology skills. Michael steps forward and shoots the tendril demon with his shotgun while Ainhoa gingerly reclaims her feet.

As he surveys the situation, Seth suddenly finds himself overwhelmed by the sounds of hell and is unable to move. As he is frozen, the werewolf in the corner charges and lunges for Michael, swiping and clawing at his collar bone, tearing through his flesh. Sam takes out a pipe bomb and lights it.

(ROUND 2 STARTS) “I na ma wolf trape would have gotten as well. Na ya enter ma home kill some of ma pets… and ya expect just walk in here kill ma…”

Due to Jay’s command, the Gagore falls to the ground. Grimm, in his war form, moves in to grapple the opposing werewolf, taking him into a death grip. As Grimm grapples the werewolf, DB shoots at the demon, hitting him with two shots which causes it to drop. Jay jumps forward and quickly smashes the werewolf with his cane, while Michael shoots it with his shotgun. Sam throws his pipe bomb off into the far right corner, doing some damage to the Gagore which is lying prone on the floor.

(ROUND 3 STARTS) “Puss, I na ya smell ya all over dis place. Ya r pissn killr da bloods. I smell da dogs on ya as well. Ya smell is familiary ta ma…. It took me sometam but I got it… I got it real good. Ya da one I smell from da dicker sometime back …. back ta da same dogs that killed ma bloody Crow.” Ainhoa, hearing this, goes pale, and quaffs a potion while remaining near the edge of the darkness, behind the battle. It helps, but her collar remains badly broken. She then activates her Forgettable relic in an attempt to hide.

The Gagore, from the ground, swipes at Sam, sending him flying backward, though Sam somehow manages to stay on his feet. Grimm attempts to bite onto the wolf in his grip, managing to get little more than a mouthful of fur. Seth, now released from the demon’s dread attack, moves to aid Grimm, dropping his guns and taking up his swords. He slashes him but it doesn’t seem to cut too deep. During the combat, DB takes a moment to look around, trying to locate the source of the voice in the room, but he does not discern his location.

Jay raises his cane again, but this time in the direction of the Gagore, who he hits. Michael drops his gun and takes out a potion.

(ROUND 4 STARTS) “Mashadow… uph… I na lickfinger him na more. His bloods can lickfinger him all da want. They cant control ma no more… I’m done with with ya all. Leave ma be now!”

The Gagore swings wildly from the ground, missing Sam and striking only the wall. Grimm moves to regain his grapple on the other werewolf and successfully surrounds him in another death grip. Seth moves in next to slice at the werewolf, and hits his target. Jim decides to toss a grenade at the chair in the left corner of the room, and the chair blows apart, splattering blood everywhere.

Jay took another strike at the ape, finally smashing it into stillness. Michael quaffs his potion, and is able to set his collar bone while Ainhoa remains standing far behind the others. The werewolf flails in Grimm’s grip but cannot seem to break free.

(ROUND 5 STARTS) Grimm stretches and wrenches upward against the wolf in his grip, tearing its head clean off its shoulders. As Michael watches, he sees the spirit of the superwolf howl and flash out of existence while those watching can see a black smoke flee from the body and down the hallway. Ainhoa, on the verge of rejoining the others, feels a blow to her head, the sensation of being dragged, and then darkness.

Sensing that danger has passed, Seth and Jim move forward to explore around the room. Grimm takes one look around and realizes Ainhoa is nowhere to be seen. He immediately alerts and starts yelling her name and searching for her without any success. They decide to do a sweep of the dungeon before exiting.

During the sweep, Jim approaches a table in a corner that has a jar sitting on top. As he approaches, a green gas starts emitting from the walls on either side and as he backs up he watches a spider get eaten away by the fog. Seth, Michael, and Sam attempt to put together a bit of a snare to lasso the jar and it fails miserably as the rope and zip ties they used in the contraption melted in the fog. Sam then attempted to disrupt the gas mechanisms and succeeded in jamming the gas emitting openings. He gets the jar and the label on the jar looks Asian. Inside appears to be pebbles.

After a hurried search of the dungeon, which does not produce Ainhoa or the embodiment of the voice, the group attempts to find out how to reactivate the portal that leads back to the bathroom in the park. They succeed and emerge back into the tunnels beneath the bathroom.



Scene open: in a strange dungeon. The group has just killed two large apelike monsters and cleared an ancillary room of torpor vampires.

The group starts hearing a whisper coming down the hallway. Sam alerts DB. Jay, and Seth that something is coming down the hallway.

  • DB Bondurant holds action.
  • Now, Sam Wright has a presence come over him and is drowned out by screams and howls. is immobilized by the hellish sound and smell of burning flesh. he is stuck in a cone of cacophony.
  • Michael Sorenson holds.
  • bad guy #2 does stuff
  • Ainhoa moves up towards Sam Wright and Michael Sorenson
  • [[:jay] positions near the hallway opening and readies a grenade

  • DB Bondurant moves up to see down the hallway. looks down the hallway and sees something crawling down the wall in the hall and shoots at it. hits it and shoots with the second pistol and hits it a second time.
  • baddie 1 does something. a grey female figure devoid of all characteristics, and a series of tendrils coming out of its back and launches at Michael Sorenson and hits him for 1L damage.
  • (Baddie 3) db feels a sense of power overcoming his mind and they begin to subside and regains control.

  • Michael Sorenson does an all out attack against baddie #1. rips a few tendrils out of it.
  • baddie #4 inserts at 15. it crawls down the hallway and attack Sam Wright (2L).
  • Sam Wright is still in agony.
  • Ainhoa moves up to the monster that just attacked Sam Wright and attacks. slices with the kukri (2L) and the machete (0L).
  • Jay Thomson attempts to commands the demon to go prone for 3 rounds.
  • Seth McKale draws swords and attacks the prone demon (#1) (5L and decapitates it).
  • Grimm (Joshua Van Dyne) attempts to grapple the demon that attacked Sam Wright and activates his dread power (4 success).

ainhoa rolls resolve and composure, succeeds but has a similar feeling as the bathroom as she enters the hallway. Down the hallway there is only (supernatural?) darkness.

the group suggests to go by the 4 destroyed whirling blades.
DB Bondurant steps through the blades and turns the corner as a flash of electricity through the hallway.
Seth McKale succeeds through the blades and lightning bolt.
Jay Thomson succeeds through the blades and through the bolt.
it is pretty dark down the hallway. the group looks for a switch for the lightning trap. there are steps going down further down the hallway.
Seth McKale and Jay Thomson do not find any mechanical or occult switches for the trap.
jay steps onto the steps and dodges down the steps as spikes strike out along the stairs. alerts the group to the spike trap and the rune trap at the bottom of the stairs.
Ainhoa and Grimm (Joshua Van Dyne) move through the blades and through the lightning.
Seth McKale and DB Bondurant move through the blades successfully. DB Bondurant faints at the bottom, Seth McKale remains up. Jay Thomson drags DB Bondurant out of the rune.
Ainhoa gets hit by the spikes, bleeding profusely. Seth McKale can sense that Ainhoa only has minutes and passes out trying to head towards her.
Grimm (Joshua Van Dyne) pulls Ainhoa back towards Sam Wright and Michael Sorenson.
Michael Sorenson patches up Ainhoa.

Sam Wright strikes at the lightning trap twice.
Sam Wright begins destroying the half the spike trap.

group approaches portal up some stairs. everyone succeeds resolve+composure and succeeds.
the landing has bars on either side of the tee. to the left the hallway elbows back and in the corner there is a table with some bones and odds and ends. to the right there is a 4way intersection with a door at the end.
They all begin investigating the portal. DB Bondurant tries to investigate with help of the others and doesn’t find anything.
Jay Thomson does an occult investigation but feels close.
Jay Thomson gets 8 successes and disappears.
everyone (minues sam) investigates what Jay Thomson did. DB Bondurant disappears through the portal.
the group figures out what to do. Sam Wright approaches the group just before they leave.
the group shows up in a catacomb in the brandywine cemetary. there is a portal behind the group.

the group moves towards an abandoned. group gets air lifted out to a FOB/tent base.

group matrices into Franks.
jay, michael, db and sam discuss whether to bring franks into the loop on michael. franks refuses support. michael calls up earl/robert about leading a assault and asking for advice on whether to go back and investigate/clear out the “dungeon.”

the group decides to go back to the NZ safehouse to get healed by Angela.
group decides to heal up for 2 days. jay, db, and michael goes to NZ. michael is focused on by angela. sam and seth heals up in the icu at mcb camp.

DB Bondurant researches a information about the different demons encountered (6 successes) with help of Kaygee. Uncovers old texts from europe about the demons:
Ape like creature are guardians and are summoned to guard blah. Who would they protect?
Tentacle demon is a standard run of the mill demon. Knows that they can agonize/mind siege targets.

Researches if anyone’s written about the dungeon place, but doesn’t find anything, but portals.

Sam Wright gets his hammer blessed (+1 to undead/demon).
DB Bondurant determines the bracers are probably no longer magical, leaves them with NZ.
